About eCPD

The eCPD programme is made up of two elements:

PDAs
  • Professional Development Advisers (PDAs) who, working strategically with senior and operational managers, ensure that organisational approaches to the effective use of technology are made and sustained; and

  • E-Guides, who are trained to teach and support colleagues to use e-learning and technologies within their practice.

654 PDAs, 30 Advanced PDAs, 722 E-Guides and 30 Advanced E-Guides across the learning and skills sector have been trained to develop their understanding of e-learning and to champion e-learning approaches across their organisations.

Online multimedia versions of the PDA and E-Guides eCPD training are currently in development and will be available on the OLS soon for supported self-study. Featuring a wealth of stimulating activities and resources, users can enroll on the programme and undertake a series of guided tasks which, on completion, will demonstrate their achievement of either PDA or E-Guide status.

The eCPD programme also provides invaluable resources for existing PDAs, Advanced PDAs, E-Guides and Advanced E-Guides who are supporting the professional development of colleagues by cascading the training within their organisations.

The eCPD programme forms a cornerstone in the delivery of the 21st Century Skills outlined in "Harnessing Technology for Next Generation Learning".
